Fever in children

Our normal body temperature is between 36.5C and 37.5C. The body’s temperature is usually a little lower in the morning and a little higher in the evening. The body temperature can also fluctuate as kids play, run around and exercise. The body has a thermostat that regulates our body temperature. Fever occurs when the body’s internal “thermostat” raises the body temperature above its normal level. This thermostat is found in the part of the brain called hypothalamus. Researchers believe that turning up the heat is the body’s way of fighting the germs that cause infections and making the body less comfortable for them. That is why many doctors think that fever is a good thing as it means that your body’s immune system is fighting the infection or other illnesses. Confirmation of fever in children Use a reliable thermometer to confirm a fever (which is when a child’s temperature is at or above one of these levels): 38C measured rectally (in the bottom) 37.5C

Thermometer Recommendation OR What thermometer to buy?!

Hi mummies and first-time mummies! Would like to share with all fellow mums (and dads) this great love which I had stumbled across!  I am a mum of two young kiddies both currently below the age of 4. Elder girl A is 3.5y and Didi B is 1y.  Back when A was a baby in 2013/2014, the in-ear thermometer was (and still is) very popular so as a first time mom, not knowing anything, followed the crowd and bought that for her.  It's ok to use and served me well. However, when B came along two years or so later, it died on me forcing me to search again for a new thermometer to use for the kids.  As they are young, they fall sick with fever coughs and cold often, so having a good thermometer on hand is so very important! And I found the SMARTTEMP! Someone had shared a video on Facebook and it intrigued me, so I got one to try love it for the ease and convenience it brings me as a busy mum! The Smarttemp is a Bluetooth Thermometer which allows real-time temperature m

HFMD

Happy Friday ๐Ÿฅ‚ Mummies and Daddies! It's the weekend! =) ๐Ÿพ Heard from a few fellow mummy friends that their little ones are down with high fever ๐Ÿค’ then diagnosed with HFMD or a mysterious rash over the body. It seems like there's a viral infection of some sort going around ๐Ÿคจ Please do take care mummies ๐Ÿ˜˜ For yourself and for your little ones. Drink lots of fluids, take your antioxidants and if you oil your kids, raindrop 1-2 times a day to protect and boost their immunity yeah? I do the raindrop for my 2 little ones on a daily basis as maintenance and FINGERS CROSSED ๐Ÿคž , we are ok! =) ๐Ÿ˜˜
